Starlight Park

Starlight Park is one of Milpitas' oldest parks and is located in the Manor neighborhood. This lovely park is located on Abbott Avenue just across the street from Spangler Elementary School. Alliance Board Member, Frances Krommenhock, helped to coordinate this project with the local neighbors and met with them on several occasions to inquire about their ideas for a project, review the artists, and to help select the finalist. As with all the Art in Your Park projects, the neighbors had a number of opportunities to vote on the project they liked best. The "Starscape Bench" by Oakland mosaic artist, Laurel True was selected. This multicolored sculptured bench of handmade tiles, mirror and glass was unveiled on July 7, 2006. The project was funded through the Milpitas Alliance for the Arts and a generous contribution from the City of Milpitas.
